She Provides Food for Her Household

Today I thought I'd share with you one of my favorite blogs...

It's Janelle, from Comfy in the Kitchen.

Janelle has a heart for hospitality and she loves to cook.  I, on the other hand, am a complete opposite of my fellow sister in Christ, for I don't have a heart for either of those two things, at least not hospitality in the traditional sense.  For me, cooking and serving food to others, especially since I have to do it 3 times a day, is a flat-out chore.  In fact, sometimes I'd rather like to remove that whole 'cooking for my family' from my job description as a godly homemaker.  And by the way, there's a reason why I never worked in a restaurant!

But needless to say, this is one way that I do my best to honor and please the Lord whether I like cooking or not, whether I'm good at it or not, whether I have to stretch my ingredients or not, and whether my food choices are limited or not.  You see there is no clause or loopholes in the Scriptures for a god-fearing woman to get out of preparing food for her family.  I wish there was, but there just isn't.  So we can either embrace that role or fight it.  And quite honestly, sometimes I do both!

She provides food for her household  Proverbs 31:15

So here's where my sweet friend comes into play...because I loathe cooking, Janelle, through her passion of it, helps to inspire me.

So, whether you love to cook or despise it, here's how she'll inspire you too, my friend...

First, I want to point out something:  this is Janelle's area of giftedness, and when someone is exercising their spiritual gifts our Creator has blessed them with, they'll naturally blossom in what they're doing; it's almost like they're glowing.  (I'll be writing soon about discovering and/or using our Spiritual gifts in the coming weeks.)  So when you head over to her site, I promise you you'll see that 'glow' or that twinkle in her eye because that's Jesus shining right through her!

Now if you're cooking challenged, not that I know a thing about that, Janelle will help you.  In fact, it's kinda like she's taking you by the hand and leading you.  Feel free to call her a cooking and hospitality coach, I'm sure she won't mind.   Plus, she gives you lots a pictures.  I'm a picture girl myself.  And she'll show you steps along the way.  She's even got a spot to help you know what type of equipment is needed in the kitchen.  Again, with more pictures!

But don't think that her site is just for the newbie cook, because it isn't, in fact, it's for all levels and interest.

Now I'm sure you've been to other food blogs and perhaps you found some of these sites rather difficult to navigate through?  Well, not at Janelle's.  At her on-line home I think she has done an exceptional job of laying out all her recipes so it's very easy to find what you're looking for.  Of course she has the typical dishes like appetizers, main courses, and desserts, etc.  But she also has a section for Food Allergies, Cooking for a Crowd, and Ministry Meals, (feel free to deliver me a meal any time you'd like because I can always use a little dinner ministry at my house!)

But here is what I love most about her site....she openly shares the Word of God, which is the True Bread of Life!  Must be that heart of discipleship that runs through my spiritual veins.

So go check out her site because I'm sure you're going to love it; especially those pictures.  Hmmm, did I happen to already mention that?

Oh, and the post that I linked to will crack you up!

  1. Wow! I love this post. I never really thought of it being my responsibility to prepare food for my family. My husband usually takes care of that, since he arrives home hours before I do and since I have honestly been too depressed to have the energy to keep up with most of it...

    1. Well since you're working outside of the home it sounds like you're sharing the responsibility!
